Welcome to Retire & RISE {{first_name}}

Hi, this is Bob.
If you just finished the welcome emails, thank you for sticking around. I want to use this first post to tell you what Retire & RISE actually stands on, so nothing that follows feels random. There are three things. This is the first one.
Confidence.
Not the loud kind. The quiet kind that lets you try something without needing to already be good at it.
Here is something most people who read this newsletter do not know about me. When I was five, I got kicked out of kindergarten. Not for behavior. The teacher said she had nothing left to teach me. So while my friends were in school, I sat home with nobody to play with until the afternoon. I taught myself how to fill a day. I have basically been doing that ever since.
I tell you that because I think a lot of us learned early that we would have to figure things out on our own timeline, not everyone else's. Then we spent forty or fifty years being told the opposite - keep up, stay current, do not fall behind. Technology piled that pressure higher than anything before it.
Here is what I want you to know before you read another word of this newsletter: you are not behind. Behind assumes there is a schedule everyone else is on. There is not. There is only the next small thing you are willing to try.
What Tuesdays Are For
Every Tuesday, this newsletter is built around one job: helping you feel a little more capable than you did the week before. Not motivated in some abstract way but capable. A specific small win. A reframe that removes some shame you have been carrying about not knowing something "everyone else" supposedly already knows.
I write these to Frank. If you do not know who Frank is yet, he is the person I picture on the other end of every issue, cautious, a little burned before, willing to learn but tired of being talked down to. Frank is not a persona I invented from a marketing textbook. Frank is me. I did not grow up with any of this technology. I have sat confused in front of a screen more times than I can count. When I explain something here, it is never theory. It is "here is what actually made this click for me."
Why This Comes First
Confidence has to come before anything else in this newsletter, because nothing else works without it. You will not try a new tool if you are quietly convinced you are too old or too far behind to learn it. You will not consider a small income idea if you assume you would just embarrass yourself trying. Every fear underneath every other pillar traces back to this one.
So Tuesdays are not going to sell you anything. They are not going to hype you up either — I cannot stand hype, and you will notice pretty quickly that I avoid it completely. Tuesdays are just going to remind you, one small proof at a time, that you are still someone who can learn.
If it would help, I put together the Retire & RISE Starter Guide; a calm, no-pressure place to start, and a good companion to keep nearby as you read. No cost, no catch.
One more thing before you go. There is a decision I made in my twenties that I did not actually make myself, someone else made it for me, and it accidentally set the entire course of my working life for the next forty years. It is also, as it turns out, the reason I am not intimidated by ChatGPT today, even though I never expected to be a "tech person." I will tell you that story in Part 2, where we get into AI Made Simple.
See you at the bank, Bob
