I cried. Real tears. Then I closed my laptop and told my husband I was “too tired to cook dinner.”
What I really was… was humiliated.

I decided to stop chasing systems and start testing trust.

Here’s the Trust Test Framework I created (and still use) before buying or joining anything online:

If you feel rushed, that’s your first red flag.
Scammers use urgency (“Offer ends tonight!”) to make you skip your common sense.
If something is truly valuable, it will still be valuable tomorrow.

Don’t believe testimonials from “Smiling Stock Photo Guy.”
Instead, look for:

If you can’t find proof from a neutral source, walk away.

I never buy from logos anymore. I buy from people.
If the creator has no face, no story, no traceable online history, big red flag.
When you can see their journey (including the messy parts), you can judge whether they have earned your trust.

Before you spend a single dime online this week, do this simple exercise:

Step 1: Open a new folder in your browser and name it “Smart Starters.”
Step 2: Research 3 beginner-friendly AI or affiliate tools that seem useful but don’t buy anything yet.
Step 3: Bookmark their homepages and one honest review for each.

That’s it.

You’re not committing - you’re collecting.
This one habit alone separates the hopeful beginners from the smart starters.

By next week, you’ll have a small library of tools worth investigating and the confidence that you’re learning, not gambling.

When you slow down, you actually speed up.
Because here’s the truth:
Most people fail online not from lack of skill… but from lack of skepticism.

Trust is your first tech skill.
Once you master that, the rest from ChatGPT to Canva gets a whole lot easier.

So, if you’ve ever said, “I just don’t know who to trust,” here’s your answer:
Start by trusting your pause.

You are not too old to start.
